        Tuesday Evenings 6 - 8pm - Charity Knitting

              I support knitting for several charities including some those
             are supported by the Yarn Shops of Tech Valley(5 shops in
             the Capital District). This will be an opportunity to come              together and knit for others, swap partial balls of yarn with
             other knitters, and receive free patterns for charity projects.

       

        Wednesday Evenings               
           May 7  Beaded Wristlet  $15
.               Experience knitting with beads by creating a small wristlet.  You will prestring the beads and incorporate them into a simple design.  A fun and easy way to learn this technique.  Materials:  Size 3 needles and sport weight yarn.
          May 28  Lace Washcloth taught by Ruth Rich  $15
               Through knitting a washcloth you will learn basic lace chart reading including yo, ssk, p2tog, p2togb.  Materials:  worsted weight cotton, straight needles 1-2 sizes bigger than recommended for yarn, 7 stitch markers, a tapestry needle.  Advance work:  Cast on 48 stitches & knit 4 rows of garter stitch.  Class minimum:  3.
      
       Saturday Mornings, 9:00-10:30       
           May 3  Simply Adorable Baby Hat    $15
               Create a cute, quick cotton baby hat using multicolored yarn.  Materials:  1 skeins Cotton Joy or similar yarn and a set of #2, #3 or #4  dp needles.
          May 10  Double Knitted Scarf taught by Iryth Farentino  $15
               
Double knitting produces a beautiful 2-sided fabric with interesting design possibilities.  Originally taught by Lucy Neatby at a Wool 'n Word retreat, Iryth has become very experienced user and teacher of this technique.  Materials:  Main color and contrasting color of worsted yarn,  #6 needle.
         May 17 Beaded I-Cord Necklace   $15
               
 Make your own jewelry by adding an assortment of beads to a thin I-cord.  Material:  sport weight yarn and #3 or #4 dp needles.
         May 31 & June 7   Entrelac Scarf     $30
               
Learn the principles of entrelac (connected squares slanting in opposite directions) as well as knitting backwards.  Materials:  either a multicolored worsted yarn such as Boku or Karaoke or yarns of contrasting colors and similar weight, needles appropriate for yarn
        June 21  Dye Day with professional dyer from Sliver Moon Farm -  9-2:00, $60 plus supplies
               
Learn principles of dyeing and handpainting yarn then paint your own sock yarn!
        June 28 & July 12  Two Socks on One Circular Needle taught by Allison Gregory  $30
     
           This delightful  lady loves knitting two socks at a time on one very long circular needle and is anxious to share the knowedge.  Materials:  Sock yarn for 2 socks and 40" #2 needle
         July 19  Dye Day #2 with Pat Bohrer  (Time & Cost to be Announced)
       
        Dye a one-of-a-kind silk scarf using shaving cream!
        July 26  Tit-Bits  $15
             
   Knit prothetic devices for mastectomy patients.  This pattern designed by a lady who had had a breast removed can be used for personal use or charity knitting only.  Materials:  Soft DK yarn in any color and a set of #6 DP needles.
           August 2  Swedish Cast-Ons taught by Karin Maag-Tanchak  $15
                These are specialized one-needle cast-ons that can be adapted for one or two color edges of sweaters, mittens, socks & hats.  Materials:  worsted yarn and appropriate needles.
           August 9  Dye Day #3 with Lynda Holt.  (Time & Cost to be Announced)
              
  Experience dyeing with natural ingredients by dyeing roving for spinning.
            August 23  Drop Spindling  $15 - various teachers
              
  Learn to spin using a drop spindle.  Materials :  roving & drop spindle (available at Wool 'n Word)

                 
            
                
          
 

            11-11:30 Needle Felting Mini-Workshop (every Sat)

                   Introduction to needle felting by making a simple ornament.  Small fee for felting needle and roving.
